FRANKLIN, Mr. Albert Johnson “Cabbage” - age 70, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Albert F. Marks, Jr. officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Franklin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed during the family hour only. Mr. Albert J. Franklin “Cabbage” age 70 transitioned from this life to glory on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Grady Hospital, Atlanta, GA with family at his side. He accepted Christ in his life. Mr. Albert J. Franklin a.k.a. “Cabbage” was born June 14, 1943 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Catherine and William J. Franklin Sr. He graduated from Flint Northern High School “Class of 1961,” and also attended Mott Community College. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army where he served in Germany. Albert retired from Consumers Energy and later moved back to Atlanta, GA where he worked various jobs. Albert enjoyed listening to music, cooking, repairing things and making others laugh. He was a soft spoken person with a listening ear, but most of all he enjoyed family and friends. Mr. Albert J. Franklin “Cabbage” leaves to cherish his memory: special daughter, Artrese Manning of Toledo, OH; 2 sons, Lorenzo Hood and Paris Jackson, both of Flint; 3 sisters, Evelyn (Rev. Albert) Marks, Jr. of Novi, MI, Bernetta (Thurman) Pinson and Elaine Gilbert, both of Flint; 3 brothers, James (Judy) Franklin of Chase, MI, Jerry Franklin and Curtis (Mary) Franklin, both of Flint; aunt, Edna Turner; 3 uncles, Ernest, Ralph and Clifford Franklin, all of Atlanta, GA; special friend, Roxanne “Cookie” Hollis of Lansing, MI; a host of nieces, nephews and friends from Atlanta, GA and Flint. The family would like to express special thanks to his cousin and guardian, Betty J. Stone of Atlanta, GA for taking him in and caring for him. Also, thanks to his Atlanta family, friends and neighbors, doctors and staff at Grady Hospital, Atlanta, GA, Rev. Dr. Lewis Randolph and the members of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family.
