CARROLL, Dea. Albert, Jr. - Age 81, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Providence Place Nursing Home in Minneapolis, MN. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2109 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Pastor Rodney Ellison officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Dea. Carroll will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Deacon Albert Carroll, Jr. was born October 10, 1928 in Mt. Holly, Arkansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Sallie Carroll, Sr. Deacon Albert attended Smackover Training School. He later united in Holy Matrimony with his soul mate Helen and to this union six lovely children were born. They later relocated to Flint, Michigan, where he made a living for his family. Deacon Carroll was employed by Buick a division of General Motors, retiring his labor after 31 years of service. He was a family man, faithful member and Deacon of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an active member in Sunday School, a real Prayer Warrior and member of the Fisherman club. Deacon Albert was also faithfully involved in Heartland Manor Ministry and the Soul Food Ministry. He was a traveling man with a very giving spirit, who loved watching sports and helping people. Deacon Albert Carroll, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Gloria Rushin and Patsy Carroll; 3 sons, Charles and Lewis Carroll, all of Flint and Melvin (Juanita) Carroll of Minneapolis, MN; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Versie Lee Watts; 12 nieces; 8 nephews; 3 aunts; 3 uncles; daughter-in-law, Willie Ann Carroll; 5 brothers-in-law; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including Mr. and Mrs. Berry Holley, Sis. Marshall, Sis. Jonell West, Bro. Morgan, Bro. Ben, Rev. A. Rubin, Sis. Valeria Johnson and the Jefferson family. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by wife, Helen R. Carroll; son, Lawrence Carroll; grandson, Morrieo E. “Mario” Minnieweather; niece, Laura Mae; 4 brothers; and 6 sisters-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Rodney Ellison and the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church family, Breakthrough Ministries and Hospice of Twin Cities Providence.
