Deacon Adell Mitchner

MITCHNER, Deacon Adell - Age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Avalon - Fostrian. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Latrelle Holmes officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Dea. Mitchner will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Friday. Dea. Adell Mitchner was born January 29, 1924 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Rev. James and Lula Mitchner. Dea. Mitchner was a resident of Mt. Morris, Michigan. He was a faithful Deacon at Greater Galilee Baptist Church. Dea. Mitchner was employed at General Motors Truck and Bus for 33 ½ years. Before retiring he loved riding motorcycles, talking on the CB and watching westerns and wresting. Dea. Mitchner also loved singing, praying, family gatherings and his church family. He was definitely the life of the party if you really knew him. Dea. Adell Mitchner leaves to cherish his memory: children, Michael (Malankeia) Mitchner, Kenneth Mitchner and Mary Haney; grandchildren, Michael Beaugard of Flint, Montez Holiday of Pontiac, MI, Izzabella Gonzalez, Milan and Malik Mitchner, all of Flint; brother, General Arlee (Mattie) Mitchner; nieces, Regina (Tony) Seales, Donna Mitchner and Shelia Henderson; nephews, Pretis (Dorothy) Mitchner of Fort Meyers, FL, Charles (Dell) Mitchner of Saginaw, MI and Roosevelt (Sally) Mitchner of Flint Kalvin, Gordon, Murray, Charles, Dixon, Timothy Henderson and Jackie Hendersson, all of Flint; cousin, Niaomi Mitchner; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, K. Willis, Dea. Edward Gibbs, Jessie Hurse, William Ford and Pastor Latrelle Holmes. Dea. Mitchner was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Mitchner; parents; brothers, James, Pretis, Smith, John Lee and Roosevelt; sisters, Florse, Dullie, Arine, Elnore and Bessie Mitchner; and nieces, Bonita Mitchner and Barbara Henderson.
