CARTER, Mother Acie - Age 84, was called home to the Lord Monday, August 20, 2007 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, August 27, 2007 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 Foss Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Dr. Roosevelt Austin, Pastoral Administrator, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mother Carter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday. Mother Carter now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM today. Mother Acie Carter was born March 16, 1923 in Moffett, Oklahoma to the union of James and Ora (Vann) Dean. In 1950, Mother Carter was united in marriage to Ray Carter. She was a faithful member of Foss Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mother Carter loved to spend quality time with family and friends. She was graced with the name "Momma Ace" as a result of her motherly spirit. She had a very sweet and humorous disposition. Mother Carter leaves to cherish sweet memories: 4 sons, Vernon Williams of California, Ray Larnell and Kenneth Carter of Flint and James (Lorraine) Carter of Tennessee; devoted daughter, Ora Lee Carter of Flint; 6 grandchildren, devoted granddaughter LaShondra (Meechee) Morris, Jahid Jordan, Edward Fryer Jr., Takara, Jazmine and William Carter; 9 great grandchildren, Kalin, Khalil, Kailee, DeMont, Jermaine Jr., Determan, Jakhir, Erris and Ashley; 2 sisters, devoted sister, Margie (Leo) McClain of Mt. Morris, MI and Geneva Briggs of Oklahoma; 3 sisters-in-law, Bernice Dean, Lennie Straham and Cassina Carter, all of Flint; 3 brothers-in-law, John Carter of Flint, Dr. Samuel (Barbara) Carter of Nevada and Carl (Dorothy) Carter of California; numerous nieces including Sharon McClain, Maybelle Wilson and devoted niece, Betty Bell; nephews; daughter-in-law, Linda Carter; and friends including the Fryer family, Elwanda Ray, Elton Walker, special caregiver Natalie Jones, the Foss Avenue Baptist Church family and the Rock Missionary Baptist Church family. Mother Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Carter; parents, James and Ora Dean; 2 sisters, Sadie Cole and Thelma Dean; and 3 brothers, Herbert, Herman and Charles Dean. .
