CHAMBERS, Mr. AC - Age 66, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, Officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Chambers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. to receive friends. Mr. AC Chambers, age 66, of Burton, formerly Flint, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Hughes, Arkansas on February 12, 1949, the son of Florida and James Farrow, and Samuel Frye. He accepted Christ at a young age, and was raised in Hughes, AR and Memphis, TN before his family relocated to Flint, Michigan. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1968, and also attended Mott Community College. Shortly after, AC enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was a Sergeant and served during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He later met and married Laverne Hardy on November 21, 1972, and to this union three children were born; Aci, Shauna, and Shannon. AC was hardworking, dedicated, and he retired from General Motors in 2003 after 36 years at Buick, and was a member of UAW Local 599. He loved sports, and especially enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Pistons, along with the Michigan State Spartans. AC was caring, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending quality time with his three grandchildren, who he loved very much. He was an avid reader, and very knowledgeable on many subjects, and enjoyed game shows and trivia. AC leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of 42 years, Laverne; son, Aci; daughters, Shauna (David), and Shannon (Rashad); grandchildren that he loved dearly, Mackenzie, Lauryn, and Emory; father, James (Elaine) Farrow; sisters, Chyna (Marquise), Valerie, Joyce, and Beverly; brothers Daniel, Victor, and Anthony; aunts, L.E. Chambers, Vera Fryer, Juanita Eason, and Ceola Mosley; a host of nieces and nephews including Tawana, Herbert Jr, Charles, Dwayne, Brandon, and Bryce; sisters-in-law Mary (John) Ross, Juanita (Van) Smith, Ada Davis, Dorothy Hughes, and Christine Lee; many cousins including the Fryers, Jones, Taylors, Beales, and Tyus families; special friends Jesse Kirksey, Carl Calhoun, Frank Robertson, Reginald Wallace, Dave Cosey, Dean Swartwood, and Larry Holland. AC was preceded in death by his mother, Florida Farrow; father, Samuel Frye; uncle, Ollie Fryer; brothers, Herbert Chambers, Lawrence Farrow, Dennis, Luther, Robert, Aaron, and Samuel Frye; and mother-in-law, Ida Hardy. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially Debbie, Amy, and Crystal; the Fryer, Lawson, Ross, Smith, Millers, and Jimerson families; Dr. Tommy and Lorraine Stevens; Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church; and the staff of Hurley Medical Center, Genesys Hospital, and Heartland Health Care Center-Briarwood.
