Mr. A.J. Williams

WILLIAMS, Mr. A.J. - Age 74, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Family Missionary Baptist Church, 2520 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Pastor Charles Levy, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mr. A.G. Williams Jr. affectionately known as “A.J.” was born February 14, 1947 in Lake Providence, Louisiana, the son of Amanda and A.G. Williams Sr., but was raised by his grandmother, Mattie Caston. After graduating from Crane High School in Chicago, IL, A.J. attended Malcolm X Junior College where he studied Photography. He moved to Flint, Michigan where he settled and started a family. His love for the Lord and music were nurtured at his church home, Family Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as part of the Men’s Chorus and performed solos originally written by him. A passionate man, A.J. had aspirations of buying homes that would be used to house parolees. He loved to watch sports, play cards and enjoy a good meal with family and friends. Mr. A.G. Williams Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Shanae Williams; 2 step-children, Porsha Allen and Carrie Allen; grandchildren, Anthony Galloway and Antoine Galloway III, all of Flint; step-grandchildren, Ayannah Allen, Peyton Allen, Messiah Green and Kevin Morris III; special niece, Charlotte Lee of Conway, AR; special friend, Anastasia Allen; a host of other relatives and friends including, Carrie Allen, Lamont Allen, Pamela Sparkling, Greg Chandler, Pastor Lessie Lee, Frank Richmond, Oneal Zigler, the Allen and Gray families. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Amanda and A.G. Williams Sr.; grandmother, Mattie Caston; siblings, Grant Reynolds Jr., Margaret Williams; special friend, Charlie; and his son. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center ICCU staff, Family Missionary Baptist Church family, New St. James Memorial COGIC and the Gray family.
