HUNTER, Mrs. Willie Alma - Age 91, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Quinn Chapel AME Church, 2101 Lippincott Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Pastor Stanley U. Sims officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Hunter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Willie Alma Hunter was born March 8, 1919 in Greenville, Mississippi, the daughter of Louis and Selena Jamerson. Mrs. Hunter moved to Saginaw, Michigan in May of 1945 before relocating to Flint, graduating from Flint Central High School. She became a Nurse at the VA Hospital in Saginaw, MI, later retiring. Mrs. Hunter also retired from the Flint Public School System in June of 1999. She married the love of her life Mr. Robert J. Hunter March 17, 1948, they were happily married for 55 years. Mrs. Hunter was a faithful member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She loved traveling with her husband, cooking, planting flowers and talking to people. Mrs. Hunter was very well respected and loved by members of the Flint community. She loved her son and all her family very dearly. Mrs. Hunter will be sadly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Robert Lynn (Terina) Hunter; grandchildren, LaTroya, Alexis and T’Shari Griffith; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaniyah, KJ and T’Shawn; godchildren, Jeanine, Jessica and Jason Stinson; special nieces, Penny (Johnny) Williams of Saginaw, MI and Vivian Jefferies; nieces, Nola, Kwanna and Natalia; nephews, Wade, Kenny and J.J.; 5 sisters-in-law, Betty, Faye, Bertha and Pearl Jamerson, all of Flint and Verda Hunter of Houston, TX; a host of other relatives and friends including, Valery Smith, Ann Louise Budd and family, Jeannie Peabody and family, and Linda Ferguson. Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hunter; parents, Louis and Selena Jamerson; 2 sisters, Selena Staffney, Bernetta Pruitt; 4 brothers, Kenny, Louis, Nathaniel and George Jamerson; sisters-in-law, Norma and Bessie Hunter; brothers-in-law, James Staffney and Richard Hunter, Jr.; and best friend, Cissy Hietew. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ron Hunt and staff, the staff of McLaren Regional Medical Center, Pastor Stanley U. Sims and the Quinnn Chapel AME Church family.
