Mr. Russell Stephen "Brodie" Welch

WELCH, Mr. Russell S. "Brodie" - Age 50, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2115 Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mr. Welch will lie in state at the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 10AM-6PM Sunday, with the family present from 3PM-6PM to receive friends. Mr. Russell Stephen “Brodie” Welch was born March 30, 1967 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Russel and Joyce Welch. He attended Beecher High School and he proudly wore his red Beecher Cap almost daily. Russell graduated from Truck Driving School in Ypsilanti, MI and was a Fork Lift Driver by trade. Stephen was an excellent uncle to his nieces and great-nephews. They loved when he picked them up from school and brought them snacks. In his spare time he loved watching old television shows. Stephen “Brodie” Welch leaves to cherish his memory: son, JaQuise Triplett of Flint; father figure to, Bianca and Marquise Tripplett; parents, Russel and Joyce Welch; sister, Stephanie Welch (Patrick) Lewis of Mt. Morris, MI; brother, Jarvail Welch; 2 nieces, Patrice and Shanice Lewis, all of Flint; 5 nephews, Riley Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Jayson Lewis-Osborn, Roman Shustock and Royce Shustock; aunts, Anner Currie of Flint, Faye (Samuel) Welch of Dekalb, MS, Anelda Gibbs of Biloxi, MS and Doris Brown of Louisville, KY; uncle, Randell (Augustine) Welch of Flint; a host of cousins including special cousins, Kevin Currie, Randy Welch, Gary Jackson and Fred Welch; god-brothers, Alton Lewis and Dion Lewis; god-sister, Yolanda Lewis; a host of other relatives and friends including, Scottie Alexander and Audrey Erving. Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his grandparents, Israel and Cloatee Welch, Essie and Lizzie Shears. The family would like to express special thanks to the Garden Neighborhood, Pastor Morris Collins Sr. and the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church family, Pastor Michael Pettigrew and the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church family.
