Mr. Nathaniel Leonard

LEONARD, Mr. Nathaniel - Age 37, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, September 5, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Leonard will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Nathaniel Duane Leonard III “Nate the Great” was born September 24, 1982 in Ferriday, Louisiana, the son of Nathaniel and Delilah Leonard Jr. The oldest of three children. He departed this life on August 28, 2020, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Nate graduated from Vidalia High School in 2000. Nate also served his country in the United States Navy as a Corpsman in Jacksonville FL. After his military service he worked at R&L Carriers. He met his bride and wife of 14 years, Jimica, while serving and they were later married in Jacksonville, Florida. Of this union four beautiful children were created, Elle Morgan Leonard, Sidnee Najai Leonard, Nathaniel Duane Leonard IV, and Mikayla Amarie Leonard. Nate grew up as a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Frogmore, LA. He recently served as a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan. He worked at American Compounding in Brighton, Michigan. Nate’s children were the pride and joy of his life. He loved family whether it was his or if he adopted one; an extra ordinary person. The legacy of Nate’s kind spirit, passion for gaming, love of music, and zest for life will live on through them. Nate never met a stranger, and greeted everyone with a smile and laughter in his heart. He loved to speak of the goodness of God. One of his favorite verse was 1 Corinthians 9:16 “For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” Nate was the embodiment of love, if love was ever an image, if it could ever be seen in our lifetime, if it could ever be touched, it was Nate and from right now until forever the lives he left behind; he lives on through us. That sunshine SMILE holds our hearts forever and we will never forget our husband, our daddy, our son, our brother, our nephew, our uncle, our cousin, our friend “Nate the Great”.
