DAVIS-WATKINS, Ms. Cynthia "Sweetie" - Age 49, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Rev. James Hill officiating. Interment Meadowview Memorial Gardens, 3136 N. State Rd., Davison, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Saturday. Ms. Davis-Watkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Ms. Cynthia Maria Davis Watkins was born June 7, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, to Millie L. Watkins and the late Mosie L. Watkins, Sr. On Monday, November 23, 2009, the Lord called her name, and she answered, “Yes Lord!”. Cynthia was educated in the Flint Public School System, attending Stewart Elementary, Whittier Jr. High School and graduating from Southwestern High School, “Class of 1978”. She also attended Mott Community College and Mr. David’s School of Cosmetology. Cynthia was a member of Harris Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Supt. Theodore R. Harris. She later joined Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Leroy Shelton. Cynthia was employed in retail for Sears-Roebuck, retiring in 2002. She was a Lunch Program Aide at Scott Elementary School. Ms. Watkins also worked at Family Dollar. Cynthia’s family and others affectionately called her “Sweetie” (a name given to her by her late Aunt Erma). As a little girl, “Sweetie” loved playing with her baby dolls. In fact she had about 35. She’d dress them, change their hair color and talk to them until her first nephew, Ronzeld “Honey” Watkins was born. He was born in the month of December and he became her early Christmas present, she threw all her dolls away. Cynthia later was joined in Holy Matrimony to LaBarrian Davis and to this union she gave birth to a son, LaBarrian “Poopie” Davis, Jr. She was really known for giving nicknames. Cynthia enjoyed hosting dinner presentations. She loved music, shopping, shopping and more shopping with Asiah, unusual hairdos and hair colors. She loved watching Lifetime and the SOAPS. “Sweetie” was everyone’s “Momma”. She was known for receiving foot massages, her little cousin Rickey named her Ms. Toes. “Sweetie’s” voice was so unique and her laughter was contagious. She loved her family without reservation just like her father. Watkins III, Maurice A. Watkins, all of Flint and James Dorelle Wilson of Detroit, MI; a host of great-nieces and nephews; 6 aunts, Clementine Taylor, Doris Rouse, Odessa Coleman, Bertha Coleman, all of Detroit, MI, Judith (Rodney) Gates of Flint and Mother Earlie M.
