Mrs. Carrie "Susie" Bell Knapp

KNAPP, Mrs. Carrie "Susie" Bell - Age 68, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:00 AM Friday, August 2, 2019 at Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness, 2211 Stedron St., with a memorial service commencing at 12:00 PM Bro. Donnie Hogan and Bro. Jesse Belk as speakers. Carrie Bell (Gilbert) Knapp, affectionately known as (Susie), was born December 22, 1950 in Magnolia, Arkansas to the union of Steve Anthony Sr. and Clara (Paschal) Gilbert. In 1952, at the age of 2, Susie came to Michigan with her parents. She attended Flint Central High School and later obtained her GED in 1994. Susie began to study the bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 22, 1969. Susie and was an active servant, but when her health began to decline and she could not physically attend the meetings regularly; she always called to listen in. In 1974, Susie met James Homer Knapp and they were married on February 28, 1977. Together, Susie and Homer blended their families and added 3 additional children. Susie was a gifted songstress and loved to read the Bible and sing Jehovah’s Praises. Susie was a stay at home mom. Cooking and spending time with her family was a priority. Wherever you saw Susie, Homer was not far behind. Anyone that knew Susie would say that her smile would light up a room and her hugs would make anyone feel comforted and safe. She was one of the most loving and kind hearted people you could ever meet. Carrie “Susie” Knapp leaves to cherish her memory: Husband of 45 years: James Homer Knapp, one son: Terry Knapp Sr., five daughters: Tressa Troutman, Tiffanie (James) Belin, Lakesha (Jerome) Hayes, Alisha Reed (all of Flint, MI) and Stacie Gilbert of Snellville, GA, 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. 6 brothers; Travis Gilbert, Steve Gilbert, Don Gilbert, AJ Gilbert, and Stanley (Jackie) Gilbert all of Flint, MI and Jerry Sr. (Deborah) Gilbert of Muskegon, MI, 5 sisters: Dorothy (Jesse) Belk, Vanita (Albert) Mayes of Flint, MI, Karen (Jerry) Muex, and Wanda (Barry) Kerns, of Lawrenceville, GA, Debra Griffis of Stone Mountain, GA, 4 brother-in-laws and 4 sister-in-laws. Special friends: Sister Johnnie Mallette, Sister Shelly Stewart, and Sister Dina Ross. A host of relatives and friends Carrie “Susie” Knapp is preceded in death by: Grandson, Baby Blair, Parents Steve Anthony Sr. and Clara P. Gilbert, twin sisters: Elizabeth Ampy and Ida Belle Gilbert, 1 brother: Mark Allen Ampy.
