Mr. Albert Mason

MASON, Mr. Albert - Age 73, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, in Sugarland, TX. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2023, at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Rabon Turner, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Mason will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2023., with family present to receive friends from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. On the evening of Sunday, November 12, 2023, the Lord called Albert Lee Mason home at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Sugar Land, TX. Albert was born to Seretha Mason on January 17, 1950, in Bolton, Mississippi. He graduated from Sumner Hill High School in Clinton, Mississippi, and shortly after graduation, he moved to Michigan. Mason retired from the Grand Blanc Metal Center, a division of General Motors Corporation in Grand Blanc, MI, with over 35 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local #1292. After retirement, his love for sports called him to pursue a license to referee. Mason was well-known in the community and at all of the sporting events; he never met a stranger. He was also an avid gardener. He was a faithful member and served in the Usher, Men’s, Culinary, and Outreach Ministries at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church in Flint, MI. He also volunteered at Second Chance Church, Flint, MI, assisting with the weekly food drive. Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Seretha Mason; brothers, Curtis West, William and George; and twin infant sons, Justin Lee and Jason Lee. Albert Mason is survived by: daughters, Monica Walker of Flint, MI and Angela (Jason) Davis of Rosenberg, TX; son, Tirick Foard of Dallas, TX; sisters, Willie B, Mary Kennedy, and Josephine; brothers, Willie Earl (Dorothy), and Lewis; grandchildren, Justin Walker, Derrick Sawyer Jr., Tellisha Walker, Keilen Walker, and Mikyla Williams; great-grandchildren, Amari Walker, Caiden Walker, Casey Vickers, Cayson Walker, Camylah Thomas, and Caron Thomas; god-son, Chris Walker; god-daughters, Delilah Darden, Voronica Walker, and Nikki Harper; special friend, Margene Burkett
